When should I be operated?
Most patients have a notion that a Cataract condition needs to be well advanced before the surgery. That is not true. It is prudent to get diagnosed by an ophthalmologist, who can advise you the right steps and potential options before Cataract adversely impacts your quality of life.

How is the eye anesthetized?
In vast majority of cases, surgery is performed under topical anaesthesia. This is administered with eyedrops. General anaesthesia is rarely used in some special cases.

Which is right lens for me?
There are multiple options which are available to you. Keeping in mind your visual needs and lifestyle, your surgeon will guide you about suitable options, including his recommendation. You can then choose accordingly.

Does recovery after ophthalmology surgery require a long down time?
No, the recovery time post cataract surgery is very short. The discomfort in the eye usually disappears within 48 hours after the surgery.

What happens if cataracts are left untreated?
When left untreated /ignored for a longer duration, Cataract progressively worsens and the lens becomes increasing opaque. When completely clouded, it will result in blindness. Advanced cataracts may lead to higher degree of complexity and complications. Hence undue delay is undesirable.

How much time does the Cataract surgery last?
A typical Cataract surgery will not last longer than 10 minutes. However, you may be required to be at the clinic for about 2-3 hours, keeping in mind pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery rest protocols. You will be discharged on the same day.
